Nora & Lum’s Wedding Portraits in Prishtina and Amazona
Some weddings are personal in a different way.
This one was not just another wedding I photographed. Lumi has been my best friend for 20 years, and while we were traveling back to Kosovo and Montenegro with our daughter Learta, he called and told me he had decided to get married while I was there.
We had already made the big decision to travel with our 8 month old daughter so she could spend time with her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and family overseas. Then this wedding became reason number two. I got to witness my best friend get married, be there to support him, celebrate with everyone, and photograph a few pieces of the day in the place we come from.
Lumi and Nora, thank you for letting me be part of this. This one meant more than I can properly put into words.
About Lumi & Nora’s Wedding Day
This wedding was special because it connected so many parts of life at once. Family, friendship, home, travel, and the kind of celebration that feels even more meaningful when distance has kept you away from so many important moments.
Because we live across an ocean, I have missed many of my friends’ weddings over the years. I also got married during Covid, when most of our family and friends could not be there with us. So being back home, with Learta meeting Uncle Lumi and Nora, and being able to celebrate this wedding in person, carried a different kind of weight.
For the wedding day, I was mainly in charge of photographing the portrait session. After that, I was there as a guest at the reception. Of course, I still brought my camera, because apparently photographers are not normal people and we do not know how to fully sit down. I only photographed a few key reception moments, then did my best to be present and enjoy the night.
We started portraits at the Main Cathedral Church in Prishtina. It gave us a strong and meaningful setting to begin the session, with architecture, open space, and that feeling of being in the center of the city. From there, we made our way to Amazona, where we photographed the rest of Lumi and Nora’s portraits before the celebration continued.
What I loved most was that this did not feel like a production. It felt like family. It felt like home. It felt like standing in the middle of a moment I was grateful not to miss.
