Cara & Joshua’s Elegant Philadelphia Wedding at The Free Library
Cara and Joshua’s wedding day was one of those Philadelphia wedding days that felt timeless, joyful, and deeply personal. Their celebration began at The Bellevue Hotel, continued with a beautiful ceremony at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, and ended with a romantic reception at The Free Library of Philadelphia.
The day came with rain, but Philadelphia still gave us everything we needed. We photographed them in front of the Cathedral Basilica, around City Hall, and later on the rooftop at The Free Library. The whole day had a refined city feeling with black tie styling, soft florals, light green accents, candlelight, family, laughter, and the kind of joy that makes a wedding feel personal instead of simply polished.
Cara and Joshua, thank you for trusting us to document such a beautiful day. This one had heart, elegance, and all the good Philadelphia texture.
About Cara & Joshua’s Wedding Day
Cara got ready at The Bellevue Hotel surrounded by her closest people. One of the most meaningful details from the morning was the pearl necklace and earrings she wore from her mother’s wedding day. Those heirloom pieces gave the morning a beautiful connection between past and present.
Cara and Joshua chose not to see each other before the ceremony, which made the walk down the aisle at the Cathedral Basilica even more emotional. Their ceremony also included an offering of flowers to the Virgin Mary, a meaningful ritual that added another quiet and beautiful layer to the day.
After the ceremony, we created portraits around Philadelphia despite the rain. We started in front of the Cathedral Basilica, then photographed around City Hall for a more editorial city feeling. Later in the evening, we stepped onto the rooftop at The Free Library of Philadelphia for a few romantic nighttime portraits.
Their reception at The Free Library brought everything together. The room had a soft, romantic feel with candlelight, light green touches, florals by Northeast Flowers Boutique, and a classic white wedding cake by The Master’s Baker. It felt sophisticated, warm, and fun, which was exactly the energy Cara and Joshua wanted
What stood out most was the joy. Not forced, not overly posed, not too serious. Just real laughter, family, celebration, and two people surrounded by everyone they love.
For couples planning a similar day, The Free Library is a beautiful choice for a wedding reception in the heart of Philadelphia. It pairs especially well with ceremonies at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul because everything is close enough to create a smooth wedding day flow while still leaving room for portraits around the city.
